Love
Is Not
Tourism

Love Is Not Tourism is a global grassroots movement dedicated to reuniting binational couples and families who have been forcibly separated by travel bans and border closures during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Why a wiki?

When loveisnottourism.org launched in July 2020, it was meant to be a better form of Google document. A small page with some useful links. It quickly grew into a global movement of couples fighting for reunion.

Being a programmer and tech nerd by nature, I loved setting up a small website and trying out some technical tricks here and there, but I never really had time or skill to properly take care of the content. I'm just not the right kind of person for that.

In an attempt to enable others to join in, I added the “Edit this page” button that takes you to the GitHub repository to edit the bare HTML files. A few people helped out and submitted changes, but many others couldn't bring themselves to dive into the clunky HTML code - understandibly.

After a discussion with the team in the #LoveIsNotTourism Discord it was clear that we need something more approachable. Something that anybody could easily edit. Something like… Wikipedia.

And here we are, the #LoveIsNotTourism wiki.

I am planning to completely replace the original website by the end of june, so I'm asking each and everyone of you to help out and add useful information as best as you can! Go ahead! It's as easy as editing a text file.
